Sleeping Arrangements
Turtle Hill sleeps 8 across three beds and one pull-out couch. Please note there are only three actual beds — the eighth guest space is the pull-out in the living area, so plan accordingly if everyone wants a proper bed.
Extra linens, pillows, and towels are in the linen closet.
Getting Here & Checking In
Turtle Hill sits on a quiet road about five minutes from downtown Narrowsburg. GPS will get you to the driveway, but the last stretch is unpaved — take it slow, especially after rain or snow.
- Park anywhere in the driveway — there's room for up to six cars.
- The front door has an August Wi-Fi Smart Lock with a keypad. Enter the code from your Airbnb messages and the lock turns on its own — you'll hear it unlock.
- To lock up on your way out, press the lock button on the keypad. The lock also re-locks itself automatically.
- Lights are on the wall to your left as you enter.
- Thermostats are in the main room and each bedroom — set them however you like.
How Things Work
Wood-Burning Fireplace
Always open the flue before lighting a fire. The lever is inside the top of the firebox — if it's closed, smoke will fill the room. Double-check it every time.
Firewood is stacked on the side of the house, nearest the front deck. Use the starter bundles provided; never use lighter fluid. Let the fire burn down naturally before bed and don't leave it unattended.
Sauna
Turn the dial to your preferred temperature and give it 20–30 minutes to heat. Towels are in the linen closet. Please sit on a towel and rinse off before use.
Turn the dial fully off when you're finished.
Outdoor Fireplace
Wood is in the same stack as the indoor supply. Keep flames modest and never leave it burning unattended. Fully extinguish with the bucket provided before heading inside.
BBQ Grill
Propane tank is connected and full. Open the valve on the tank, then light per the instructions on the lid. Please close the valve and scrape the grates when you're done.
Heating & Cooling
There are two thermostats that control heating and cooling — one by the stairs on the ground floor, and one by the stairs on the upper level. Adjust these however you like.
Please don't change the other thermostats. The units near the windows control the radiant heating system and are already set correctly.
Kitchen
The cooktop is gas — push and turn each knob to ignite. The oven is electric, so give it a few minutes to preheat.
Dishwasher pods are under the sink. Coffee, tea, salt, pepper, and cooking oil are stocked for you.
Washer & Dryer
Located off the main hallway. Detergent is provided. Please don't run a load after 10 PM — sound carries in an A-frame.
EV Charger
Level 2 charger mounted in the driveway. Standard J1772 connector. Free for guests — just plug in.
Where to Find Things
- First aid kit — in the cabinet above the refrigerator
- Fire extinguisher — inside the laundry room
- Plunger — inside the laundry room
- Clothing steamer — in the storage space to the left of the washer/dryer in the laundry room
- Extra linens & towels — linen closet
- Firewood — stacked on the side of the house, nearest the front deck
House Rules
- No smoking anywhere on the property, including the decks.
- Quiet hours 10 PM – 8 AM. We have wonderful neighbors and would like to keep it that way.
- No parties or events. Maximum 8 guests, matching your reservation.
- Shoes off inside — the floors are new and we'd love to keep them that way.
- Never leave any fire unattended — indoor fireplace, outdoor fireplace, or grill.
- Pets are welcome with prior approval only. Please let us know in advance.
Trash & Recycling
Bins are located in the shed beside the driveway. Please bag all trash and separate recycling — this is bear country, so nothing should be left outside the bins.
- Trash — green bin, bagged and tied
- Recycling — blue bin: glass, plastic, aluminum, paper (rinsed)
- Do not leave food scraps outdoors or on the deck at any time
Before You Go
Nothing intensive — our cleaners handle the rest. Just a few things to help us reset the house:
- Load and run the dishwasher.
- Take trash and recycling out to the bins in the shed.
- Turn off the sauna and all lights. Set the two main thermostats (by the stairs on each level) to 60°F in winter or off in summer.
- Make sure the fireplace is fully out and cold.
- Close and lock all windows and doors.
- Leave used towels in the bathroom — no need to strip beds.

Lander's River Trips — rafting, tubing, and canoe trips on the Upper Delaware. Book ahead in summer.
Indian Head Canoes — kayak and canoe rentals.
Big Eddy is the deepest point on the river and the local swimming spot.
Hiking & Browsing
Tusten Mountain Trail is a 3-mile loop with the best views in the valley.
One Grand Books — a beloved indie bookshop on Main Street.
Skiing & Snow
Ski Big Bear at Masthope — closest slopes, just across the river in PA. 18 trails plus snow tubing, and very good for families and beginners.
Holiday Mountain — small, friendly, and about 20 minutes out.
Camelback Mountain — the big one, around 45 minutes.
Rainy Days & Nights Out
The Kartrite — indoor waterpark, open year-round. A lifesaver with kids.
Resorts World Catskills — casino, restaurants, and live shows in Monticello.
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts — the original Woodstock site, now a world-class venue and museum. Check the schedule before you travel.
